Creating Your Commodity & Service Profiles for State & Local Bids

Government bids and solicitations are issued by various government agencies using commodity and service codes. To receive bids that are specific to what you sell, you must select the correct commodity or service codes.

The System Utilizes two types of codes:
PV Proprietary Code: State, Educational and Local Government
FSC Codes: Federal Supply Codes used by Federal agencies and Military facilities

YOU MUST SELECT CODES FROM EACH GROUP TO RECEIVE FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OPPORTUNITIES.

Enter you Prime Vendor System online by going to www.prime-vendor.com, clicking on Vendor Center and entering you information to login. The image below will display your company information. Select Account Management from the menu on the left.

After you have selected Account Management you will see the following screen.

Next click List Commodity Codes. You will see this screen. Now select List Commodity Codes again.

After selecting List Commodity Codes you will see the following screen.

Click Select From General Code Listings to view a list of the major Commodity Codes groups.

For this example scroll down to code 200-00 clothing and uniforms. Click on Code 200-00 to view a more detailed listing of the Commodity Codes in this grouping. After clicking on the code you will see the following screen

To create an effective profile for State and Local government bids select specific Commodity Codes within this group of your products. SELECTING THE PRIMARY CODE 200-00 DOES NOT INCLUDE ALL THE SUB-CODES. YOU MUST SELECT EACH SUB CODE SEPARATELY.

Once you have selected your codes, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Choose These. This will save your selection and move the saved item to the left. If you have selected any code that is incorrect you may remove it from your list by selecting the Delete button.

You may also find codes by using a simple search word. Enter the word Shirts into the keyword search field at the top of the page. Make sure both the code and sub-code fields are blank. Select Search and a list of all codes with the word Shirt will now appear. You may scroll through this list and check off codes you would like to add. Scroll to the bottom and select Choose These and you will save your selection.

You may continue adding as many codes an necessary to complete your company product profile. Once you have completed your commodity and service selection for State and Local government bids. Select the EXIT button twice to get to the Commodity codes screen.

Federal solicitations and Bids require a FSC code profile. To receive Federal Solicitations and Bids you must create a FSC profile. Select List FSC Codes to begin creating your profile. To continue this tutorial on FSC code profiles click "next topic".
